In August 1929 the brewery of Philomena and Alois Unertl was founded. Since then wheat-beer has been the fruit of the brewery's labour. From 1962 until 1978 Josef Unertl (2nd Gen.) and Wolfgang Unertl (3 Gen.) lead the company. As of 1993, Unertl Brewery became a limited-partnership company and its leadership taken over by Wolfgang Unertl and his son Wolfgang Alois.
Since this time constant re-investment has taken place in the areas of technology and logistics. In 2001, the company achieved official "Bioland" certification (See Bioland Page on this website).
The energy-rich water is naturally the most important ingredient in our beer. Tradition too has been maintained in the actual production of the beer. Even with cutting-edge technology installed within the brewery, a large quantity of the beer's production is done by hand. "A human hand at the end of the day is nothing special, but it is also something that cannot be easily replaced!"
